December 23, 1968 - May 30, 2021

Michael G. King, age 52, of Minneapolis Journeyed to the Spirit World on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on December 23, 1968 in Minneapolis the son of Gregory T. Morrison and Karen Marie King. Michael attended MTCT for fine arts and also assisted with Indian Studies. He was formerly employed by the Lower Sioux Community in culture/language. Singing and dancing was his love! He was awesome with his hands in making Native crafts. He started singing around the drum when he was nine years old. Michael was a singer, dancer, beader, sundancer, fisherman and a hunter. He belonged to the Bear Runners and Bear Medicine Drum groups. Michael was a member of The Bear Clan People.

Survived by his mother: Karen M. LaRose; Lower Sioux Mdewakanton family: Misty King, Deedra King andMason King; daughters: Michelle, Margarita and Carissa; grandsons: Marcelo, Maquel, Donovan, Adrian, Gabriel and William; granddaughters: Riley and Maya Belle; siblings: Jonathan LaRose, Maria, Red Buffalo and Christina; many other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his daughters: Robin and Dominique O'Maste Win; father: Gregory T. Morrison; great, great grandmother: Nina King; grandmother: Louise Lussier; and grandparents: Chester & Mamie Morrison.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 – 9:00 AM-6:00 PM at the Church of Gichitwaa Kateri in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Officiating will be Shawn Phillips.

An additional visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 – 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at Bishop Whipple/St. Cornelia's Church in Morton, Minnesota.

A Funeral service for Michael King will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2021 at 1:00 at the Bishop Whipple/St. Cornelia's Church in Morton, Minnesota. Officiating will be Bob Larsen.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be family, friends, pipe carriers, Sun dancers, AIM Members, Native American Church.

Casket Bearers will be Jonathan LaRose, Mason King, J.R. Bellanger, Adrian, Ellis Crow Bellecourt, Stanley Looking Horse Jr., Clifford Olson, Mike Herman Jr., Larry Herman, Barry King, Herb Sane Jr., and Minoh Banks.

Interment will be held at the St. Cornelia's Church Cemetery in Morton, Minnesota.
