Paul Wilson Begay – Maza Dowan'sa (Sounding Iron) age 43, of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota formerly from Sisseton, South Dakota went to Paradise in Heaven with his mom Delores (Wilson) Larson on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota. Our little brother/son was born on February 15, 1978 to Sam K. Begay and Delores Wilson) Larson in Sisseton, South Dakota. He grew up in Sisseton, South Dakota. He attended Big Coulee Headstart, Peever Elementary, Tiospa Zina Tribal School, then moved to Bismarck, North Dakota with his auntie, Brenda Redday, and attended school at Bismarck High School.

Our little brother/son was an excellent cook, so he attended Job Corps in Nemo, South Dakota for Culinary Arts and graduated from UTTC in Bismarck, North Dakota with an Associates in Culinary Arts. On July 26, 2004 he married Mary Red Owl, who brought happiness to him and mademany memories with her. On March 26, 2016, our little brother/son married Kateri Warren and became a dad to Jayden, Jeremy, Breana Azure. A year later, our baby niece Scarlett Fawn was born. Scarlett was his world, he did everything for her, made sure she was taken care of and provided for her.

Our brother/son always made sure his niece/daughter Tenyana was also taken care of. He loved her like his own child. Paul helped raise his two nieces, Tenyana and Maliyah, and helped take care of his nieces and nephews. Paul enjoyed watching movies, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews. He didn't have favorites, he loved them all.

Our brother/son is survived by his daughters: Scarlett and Tenyana; step-children: Breana, Jeremy, Jayden Azure; father: Sam K. Begay; sisters: Elvonna, Misty, and Robin Begay; half-sister: Angelita Canku and stepdad: Terry Larson.

Our brother/son is preceded in death by our mother: Delores (Wilson) Larson; paternal grandparents: Paul and Mary Begay; maternal grandparents:Nathan Wilson, Helen (Eagle) Redday; babygirl: Santana Fawn; uncles: Richard "Duke" Wilson, Francis Baine, Nathaniel "Bobby" Wilson, Elroy "Sam" Wilson, Floyd Redday Sr., Dennis Redday Sr., Roger Redday Sr., Darren Redday, Oliver Redday, GordonRedday Sr .; aunties: Shirley (Wilson) Limpy, Gyla Redday, Brenda Redday; cousins: Kristie Rae Hart, Vernon Redday-Renville Jr., Dale Begay, Betty Attaki, Dan Attaki, Alvin Bahe, Lawrence Attaki, Phillip Attaki, Helen (Attaki) Lander; special nieces: Shaylauna Roach and Maliyah Provencial.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM and a all-night visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 beginning at 7:00 PM at St. Kateri Church Hall in Sisseton, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at St. Kateri Church Hall in Sisseton, South Dakota. Officiating will be Jerome Renville and Tim Brown.

Honorary Casket Bearers are Keith Hawke, Glendon Wilson, Miranda Redday, Jared Redday, Tracey Hart, Christopher Wilson, Darryl Begay, Dorena Begay, Delphina Begay, Delena Begay, Esther Kirk, Lester Kirk, Clara Belle Tsiose, Joe Oakie, Jr., Zonnie Oakie, Jerry Lininger, Cheyenne Oakie, Trudy Godspeed, John Redday Jr., many cousins, friends and family.

Casket Bearers are Delbert Begay, Ronnie Oakie, Chris Sweeny, Louis Hart Jr., Roger Redday Jr., Joey Seaboy, Keith Hawk, Telmar Selvage

Interment will be held at the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Cemetery in Goodwill Township, Agency Village, South Dakota.
