Minnesota's Infrastructure Union Urges Action on Infrastructure Investment and Refinery Safety

Saint Paul, MN – The regular state legislative session came to an end today, with Governor Tim Walz and legislative leaders coming to an agreement on budget targets. The session concluded with critical unfinished business — namely, an infrastructure jobs bill and the refinery safety bill.

Joel Smith, President and Business Manager of LIUNA Minnesota and North Dakota said, “Legislators now have time to finish their business to make our roads, bridges and water systems safer, and to assist communities and small businesses affected by civil unrest.

“Over the past week, more than 1,000 Minnesotans have called legislators to pass the refinery safety bill. It is critical that lawmakers use this time to take action to keep refinery workers and nearby communities safe by requiring the use of a skilled workforce.”
