Jeffrey Jay Max Jr. (Dakota Caze Wambdi Peta) journeyed to the Spirit World on April 30, 2021.

He was born on May 5, 1996 in Sisseton, South Dakota to Jeffrey Max Sr. and Tressa Bissonette. Jeffrey grew up in Sisseton, South Dakota and was a 2015 graduate of Tiospa Zina Tribal School, during his high school years, Jeffrey loved to play basketball. He was one of the star basketball players and was a big part of the Tiospa Zina Wambdi Team. His biggest passion was the love of Basketball. He helped them to 3 back-to-back Championships at the Dakota Oyate Challenge 2013, 2014, 2015. He also loved playing with the traveling teams that went to Arizona, Colorado, Kansas with the Native American Invitational Tourney's. Jeffrey attended SWC for a short time and played briefly for the SWC Mustangs.

Jeffrey worked at the Dakota Magic Casino and Hotel and for Woodland Cabinetry. Jeffrey lived and believed in our traditional ways. He loved to play moccasin games and won a few Champion games. In his spare time, he wrote Lyrics and loved to spit his rhymes. He was a kind, respectful and loving. Jeffrey had a lot of friends. He is loved and will be missed by his many family and friends.

Survived by his father: Jeffrey Max Sr.; mother: Tressa Bissonette; brothers: Lee White Sr. and Virgil Benise; sisters: Karissa Dog Eagle, Trelonnie Dog Eagle and Samantha Crawford; maternal grandmother: Sophia Bissonette; paternal grandmothers: Virginia Max and Rose Max and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Seth Ambrose "Chico" Bissonette; paternal grandfather: Vincent Max Sr.; uncle: Vincent Max Jr.; aunt: Collette Max; cousins: TJ Max Jr. and Vicky Max; many other relatives.

All-night wakes will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 beginning at 7:00 P.M. and Tuesday, May 4, 2021 beginning at 7:00 P.M. at The Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center in Sisseton, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 beginning at 12:00 Noon at The Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Community Center in Sisseton, South Dakota.

Officiating will be Robert Gill. The Drum Group will be Dakota Nation.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be All his family and friends and all his basketball teammates.

Casket Bearers will be Cain Robertson, Tyrone Bearhead, Cullen Max, Jace Max, Jerrard Max, Felix Renville III, Tyahan Max, Stephan Shepard, Johnathan Bissonette, Keenan Ojeda, and Jacob Haug.

interment will be held at Wambdi Hde Ska in Eden, South Dakota.
