Kenneth Basswood, age 75, of Mahnomen, MN, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 8, 2021.

Kenneth Francis Basswood, the son of Jennie Basswood and Melvin Boswell, was born on February 19, 1946 in Michigan. He moved around often with his mother, but spent several years living in the Minneapolis, MN area. Eventually, the family moved to the White Earth Reservation to make their home. Growing into a tall thin man, Ken was tenderly known as "Spaghetti" to many of his friends and family members. Over the years, he worked several jobs. Above all, he enjoyed his years working as a security guard and as an auto mechanic. He had a passion for old cars and spent hours fixing them up. Ken was the father of eight children and was proudly a stay-at-home dad for many years. Ken also loved being outdoors and fishing. He especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, laughing, and teasing those he loved.

Ken is survived by five daughters: Janice Basswood, Kimberly Bellanger, Carla Looyan, Evelyn Boswell, and Brittany Basswood; two sons: Melvin Brown and Lucas Basswood, one sister, Mary Ann Basswood; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kenneth "Jack"; and sister, Annie Basswood.

Traditional Services will begin Monday, April 12, 2021 at 6:00 pm at the Pine Point School, Ponsford, MN, and continue until the time of the service on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate.
