Catarina Gordon, age 27, of Naytahwaush, MN, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 8, 2021.

Catarina Marie Gordon, the daughter of Terra (Dahl) Gordon and Matthew Gordon, was born on September 21, 1993 in Bemidji, MN. She grew up with her family in Grand Portage, MN, and attended elementary school in Grand Marais, MN. Catarina was baptized at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Grand Portage. As a teenager, Cat moved to the Mahnomen, MN, area. She had a very close bond with her grandparents: Butch & Gladys Gordon, Arvid & Patti Dahl, and Carolyn Howard & Michael Spry, who all open heartedly helped raise her. She attended high school in both Mahnomen and Grand Marais and loved being part of both the basketball and volleyball teams. After moving to Minneapolis, MN, Cat received her diploma from the Minnesota Internship Center. She returned to northern Minnesota and, over the years, lived between White Earth, Naytahwaush, and Grand Portage with her family.

Cat had a strong personality and a beautiful smile. She had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to make people happy. Although she had struggles, Cat had a positive attitude, kept her faith, and leaned on her family. She was the mother of two precious children, Jazzebelle and Harden, whom she deeply loved. Her family was her rock and she enjoyed traveling with them. Winter vacations in Florida were a special part of her life, where they made many wonderful memories. Cat loved to shop, spend time with friends, and listening to music. She had recently been learning traditional beadwork and showed much talent. Cat was attending Leech Lake Community College and had dreams of becoming an addiction counselor. She also spoke often of one day owning her own clothing business.

Catarina is survived by her parents, Matthew Gordon of Mahnomen, and Terra Gordon of Grand Portage; her children, Jazzebelle Brown and Harden Brown; a brother, John (Desiree Wadena) Gordon; a sister, Peyton McArthur Gordon; grandparents: Harold "Butch" Gordon, Arvid (Patricia) Dahl, and Carolyn Howard & Michael Spry; aunts, Sherilyn Brumback and Dawn Dahl; uncles, Robert Gordon and Keith Dahl; nieces and nephews: DeJonelle, Gladys, Johna, John Jr. and Lyrell Gordon; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Gladys Gordon, and niece, Lyssa Rae Gordon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a "Grow with Me" account for Catarina's children and memorials can be mailed to or dropped off at any United Valley Bank Branch.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex, Naytahwaush, MN. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 5:00 -7:00 pm with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex. The funeral service will be recorded and available for viewing shortly after the funeral.

Following all Covid-19 safety protocols, social distancing will be practiced, and all must wear a mask to participate.
