Babaamaajimowinan (Telling of news in different places)
Statement from the Elders of Ki'eshgitabaaning Cultural and Healing Lodge, Treaty 3 Lake of the Woods, Ontario Canada near Manitoba Border.
We, the Elders, have created this Living Website in the hopes that our people, especially the youth, will be inspired to learn our Culture, Language, History and Spirituality of the Anishinaabe, which has historically been denied to our people through systemic racism by systems imposed by past Governments, such as the Indian Residential Schools, Indian Day Schools, 1960's Scoop of Indian children from Children's Aid Society, and Religious Churches.
We, the Elders, are committed to sharing, encouraging and teaching our Ancestral Traditions and Spiritual Knowledge to our people, so that our way of life, we almost lost, will be with us today and into the future.
We are rising up.
