Lady Warriors clinch Northwoods Conference-North Championship with 70-45 win over Clearbrook-Gonvick - P22

Red Lake Girls JV also winners over the Bears 55-48, after trailing 23-19 in the first half

RED LAKE, MN - Once the Lady Warriors got going in the first half of their game against Clearbrook-Gonvick on Thursday, March 11, 2021, they pretty much controlled the rest of the game on both offense and defense.

Red Lake outscored the Bears 38-16 in the first half and cruised to their 70-45 win, and it also clinched the Northwoods Conference-North Championship. The Cass Lake-Bena Lady Panthers were the Northwoods Conference - South Champions.

The Lady Warriors have won the Northwoods Conference-North Division since joining that conference in the 2017-18 season.

Five Lady Warriors were in double figures in their win over the Bears. LaTayla Pemberton led Red Lake with 14 points, Serenity May had 13, and Kelanna McClain, Karen Guise and TeAndra Pembertopn-Kingbird each had 10 points.

Annabelle Phillips had 17 for Clearbrook-Gonvick.

Red Lake moves to 8-3 and will host Badget-Greenbush-Middle River on Friday, March 12th and finish off it's regular season hosting Nevis on Saturday, March 13th. BGMR is 14-3 on the season and going on an 11-game winning streak.

Clearbrook dropped to 10-5 and will host Red Lake Falls on March 12th, wrapping up its regular season.

In the earlier game, after trailing 23-19 in the first half, Red Lake's JV came back strong in the second half to outscore the Bears to a 55-48 victory.

And in Cass Lake, the Red Lake Warriors Boys Basketball team lost a close one in overtime to the Panthers, 68-65. The boys are in 3rd place in the Northland Conference, with both Cass Lake and Nevis tied for 1st Place.
