Openings for third class in Chicago area and first class in Indianapolis

April 12, 2021

LA GRANGE, IL (April 9, 2021) – Applications are now open for the third class in Dubak U’s Apprenticeship Program for industrial electrical trade education and certification in La Grange, IL, and for the first time, applicants can join the apprenticeship program in Indianapolis as well. At the completion of the four-year apprenticeship, participants have the opportunity to test for nationally recognized Journeyman Industrial Electrician Credentials.

Program participants will receive paid, on-the-job industrial electrical experience working 40 hours a week on various job sites as well as attend classes three nights every other week, tuition-free, as they work toward industrial electrician certification. Classes begin in June/August 2021; Indianapolis apprentices will attend classes in 2021 via Zoom for Year One instruction but will participate in hands-on training at our Indianapolis Branch with our certified instructors and performance evaluators. Indianapolis apprentices will attend our Core Bootcamp at the Chicago branch with the local area apprentices. Our Core Bootcamp consists of four paid 40-hour weeks where apprentices are introduced to the electrical trade and the construction industry. Apprentices will receive introductory training on pipe bending, device wiring, safety, and electrical craft related tools and material to prepare them for field work.

Dubak U, a craft university operated by Dubak Electrical Group. is both an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor (ATS) and an Accredited Assessment Center (AAC). As an industrial electrical contractor, Dubak Electrical Group has tailored the education program to focus on the skills needed to become an Industrial Electrical Journeyman and covers the most challenging material in the electrical field.

The Dubak U AAC has both a knowledge verification (written) and a performance verification (hands-on) that those completing the program may be eligible to attempt. Only those that successful complete a knowledge verification or a performance verification are considered a journeyman. Passing one or the other makes them an NCCER Verified Industrial Electrician. Those successfully completing both the performance verification and the knowledge verification are considered NCCER Certified Industrial Electricians, the gold standard credential from NCCER. Dubak U is dedicated to providing apprentices with the knowledge and skill to become top level journeyman in the electrical field.

“While many trade schools are Accredited Training Sponsors with NCCER, they can’t verify journeyman level knowledge and skill,” said Nick Dubak, Chief Operating Officer of Dubak Electrical Group. “We can offer a great tuition-free education, an opportunity to build skills, and add to our great, highly qualified team of industrial electricians.”

The four-year program offers 576 hours of classroom and hands-on training, with a total of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training, which meets the requirements for a nationally recognized apprenticeship program.

Applications are reviewed and qualified candidates will begin the interview process this month and into May. The Apprenticeship Class is selected and notified in June.
