Janice Mae Howard, age 65 of Red Lake, MN, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Jourdain / Perpich Extended Care Center in Red Lake.

Jan was born on August 24, 1955 to Joseph and Josephine (Clark) Howard. She lived in Minneapolis for many years before returning to her homeland in Red Lake. She was blessed with a daughter, Josephine Angela and three beautiful grandchildren: Cosha RaeAnn, Isaak Joseph and Daunte Jeremiah. She was a resident of Red Lake Jourdain /Perpich where she made many more friends. She loved to joke around, do word find puzzles, play cards and visit friends. She also loved to play Bingo and most of all loved going to the casino with her niece.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Julia, Judith, Joyce, Marilyn, Georgianna and JoAnn; brother, George Howard; brothers-in-law: George F. Jones and LaVerne "Buckshot" Neadeau; niece, Sherilyn Joy Howard; nephew, Richard Anthony Howard, great-nephews: Shaun Howard, David Howard and great-great nephew, Latrell Stately and many other relatives.

Jan will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Josie Howard; her grandchildren: Cosha Howard, Isaak Howard and Daunte Howard; sisters: Donna Spears and Francis Johnson; brother, Joseph Howard, Jr.; aunt, Viola Kingbird; several nieces, nephews and many other relatives. She will be greatly missed by all.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Redby Center in Redby and continue until the service on Saturday, April 10, 2021. Active casketbearers will be: Riley Chaboyea, Anthony Benais, Brandon Howard, Sr., Brandon Howard, Jr., Terrell Stately, Tyrell Stately, Kyrell Howard, Guy Stately and alternates, Corey Stately, Nicky Joe Howard and Joey Howard Frank Howard. Honorary casketbearers will be: Georgianna Spears, Amelia Benais, Angela LaDuke, Mavis LaDuke, Diane Howard, Shauna Stately, Hilda Howard, Rochelle Howard, Fannie Howard, Raisey Ravensborg, Renee Clark and her friends at the Jourdain/ Perpich Center. Interment will be at the Episcopal Cemetery in Redby. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker.
