RED LAKE, MN - The Red Lake Warriors hosted Clearbrook-Gonvick on Friday, February 12, 2021, and the Bears were first to score, followed by ten more to lead 12-0 in the first half.
But the Warriors fought back, even after D.J. Holtusen got his third foul and came out of the game near the 10-minute mark, and ended up leading at the end of the first half, 36-35.
The lead changed several times in the second half, with both teams running fast paced offenses, and it ended up going down to just seconds to play and the Warriors holding on to their 3-point lead for the win, 83-80.
D. J. Holthusen led all scorers with 28 points, 24 coming in the second half, Aaron Chaboyea added 20 and Gerald Kingbird Jr. hit for 11.
Logan Westrum led the Bears with 21, Alex Dawson nailed 19 and Kolten Schultz added 13.
Red Lake moves to 5-2 on the season and will host Laporte on Monday, February 15th, travel to Blackduck on February 16th and travel to Clearbrook on February 23rd.
Clearbrook drops to 2-6 on the year and will travel to Menahga on February 16th.
In the earlier game between Red Lake's JV and Clearbrook-Gonvick, the Warriors also edged the Bears 61-59.
