Karrie Anne "Waaseyaanakwadookwe" Smith, 47, of Cloquet passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Community Memorial Hospital due to heart complications. She was born to Clarence "Chuck" Smith and Louella Mae Martineau on January 21, 1974 in Cloquet. Karrie held a 4.0 GPA and was an Honors Student in College. She was employed by several Fond du Lac entities, including food distribution, construction as a cement mason, a bingo supervisor, and the manager at the Brookston Center. Karrie enjoyed crafts, flowers, food, cooking, and baking. She was known for being habitually late. Karrie loved Sunday dinners with her Dad, Denise, and Kyra.

Karrie was preceded in death by her mother, Louella; brother, Jay Smith, Sr.; grandmother, Loretta Martineau; and numerous other family members. Survivors include her father, Clarence "Chuck" (Denise) Smith; stepmother, Wanda Smith; her children, Heather Ojibway, Aaliyah Ojibway, Qaiden Smith, and Qiana Smith; special grandson, Jimmy Torrence, Jr.; grandchildren, D'Angelo, Jericho, and Jericha; her siblings, Anthony Smith, Steve Smith, Charlie Smith, Sharon Smith, and Ann Marie DeFoe; close friends, Dena Danielson, Randy Barney, Jessica Smith, Bo Diver, Lindsey Markwardt, and Lindsey Ecklund; and numerous extended family members.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 -7:00 pm Wednesday, March 10, 2021 in Nelson Funeral Care and will continue from 9:00 am until the 10:00 am Traditional Funeral Service Thursday, March 11, 2021 also at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Old Holy Family Cemetery.
