Travis James Varney Jr., age 28, journeyed to the Spirit World on Saturday, February 13, 2021.

He was born on June 27, 1992 at Fairview Riverside Hospital the son of Travis Varney Sr. and Bernadette Mata.

He graduated from Bemidji High School in 2010. Travis was employed as a security guard at Mino-bimaadiziwin Apartments. He was also excited to start carpentry work. He was a boxer for many years and he enjoyed working out and playing basketball. Travis loved being with his daughters and looking out for his family. He also loved putting a smile on everyone he knew. He lived life and loved to smile!

Survived by two daughters: Myla and Mniĥaĥa; children's mothers: Monica Mgeni & Jada Brown; his mother: Bernadette Graf; his father: Travis Varney Sr .; two brothers: Raul Mata and George Martin; sisters: Tamia Varney, Noreen Varney and Arial Elise May; maternal grandmother: Nina Mata; other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by three uncles Hi "Duff" Varney, Stanley Leroy Dean and Michael Mata, an aunt Tanya Varney, sister Donita Mata and grandparents Leroy Varney, Noreen Varney and Leandro Mata.

Funeral Services for Travis James Varney Jr. will be held on Friday, February 19th at 10:00 AM at the Little Rock Community Center.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake.

An all-night wake will be held on Tuesday, February 16th beginning at 4:00 PM until 9:00 AM at the Mata residence, 1834 EM Stately Street, Minneapolis. Further all-night wakes will be held on Wednesday, February 17th and Thursday, February 18th at The Little Rock Community Center beginning at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday.

Casket Bearers will be Raul Mata, George Martin, Kevin Needham, Eddy Fairbanks, Michael Stand, Jacob Mata, Leo Cook and Leroy Varney.
