Joseph Jacob Thunder, Jr., 83, of Redby, MN died Friday, February 5, 2021 at his home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Redby Community Center in Redby, MN. A wake will begin at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Redby Community Center in Redby and go until the time of service on Saturday.

Joseph was born April 7, 1937 in Red Lake, MN the son of Joseph and Rose (Branchaud) Thunder, Sr. He was raised and educated in Red Lake. He graduated in 1955. He was a Little League Coach, Red Lake Volunteer Fire Department, and Red Lake Engineering, retiring in 1994. He went on to work at the 7 Clans Casino in 1995 – 2013. He started as a security guard and later became the host with the most...he married Bernadine Donnell on March 21, 1964 who preceded him in death July 23, 2009. They were married 45 years when she passed. He enjoyed going to the casino and playing keno and especially loved Bingo, watching movies and talking on the phone with Jocko and Mavis...He loved going to the Warrior Basketball games especially watching Alexis Desjarlait and Grace White...He enjoyed being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Muriel (John) McGraw, sons, Llewellyn Thunder and Joseph Thunder III, daughter, Rose Thunder, a very special granddaughter, Jami Thunder, great grandson, Dion Thunder whom he helped raise and continued to raise after losing his wife, brother, Maurice Thunder, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, his extended family, sisters, Thelberta Lussier, Barbara Jean Vasques, Isadore "Doyla" Lussier, Jackie DeFoe, Sr., Mavis Strong, Melodie Strong, Buddah Strong, Wilfred Strong, and Rexford Strong.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bernadine Thunder, great granddaughters Shelby and Lily Iceman, Vanellope Cobenias, and Ailynn Cobenais, great great granddaughter, KaeliAnne Cobenais, brothers, Lester VanWert, Julius Aloysius "Wishy", Ralph, and twin brothers, Alvin and Melvin Thunder, sisters, Ernestine VanWert, Edith Graves, and Nancy Mathews and the woman in his life after his mom passed was Rose Lussier.

Active Casketbearers will be Dolan Donnell, Clinton Donnell, Jeff Donnell, George Pemberton, Jr., Delvin "Bob" Benais, Gary Cobenais, Nolan Desjarlait, Douglas "Oscar" King, Steve "Skup" Thunder, and Shannon Fontenelle.

Honorary Casketbearers will be James "Dino" Garrigan, Herman Donnell, Duane Tygusson, Roman "Ducker" Stately, Francis "Chunky" Brun, Julius Thunder, Jr., Orlyn Donnell, Joyce Fowler, Sue Neadeau, Charise Schoenborn, Mavis Strong, Vicki Donnell, Darlene Jo Thunder, Alexis Desjarlait, Tashia Strong, Charity Pemberton, Maureen Lyons, Deanna Pemberton, Mary Thunder, Carmen Green, Sheri Good, Fabian "Nickel" Cook, Lewis Thunder, Steve Cobenais, Lois Johnson and his 7 Clans Casino Family.
