Red Lake's Junior Varsity loses to Pine River 43-42 in closing minutes after leading 30-11 in the first half - P8

Warriors move to 2-1 on season with 81-56 win over Pine River

RED LAKE, MN - The Red Lake Warriors won their second game in a row on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 hosting the Pine River Tigers.

The Tigers scored first with a 3-pointer, but the Warriors scored twice after that and took a 5-3 lead in the first half, a lead which they never gave up. By the end of the first half, Red Lake led 35-19.

The Warriors outscored Pine River in the second half as well 46-37, giving them the win, 81-56.

Aaron Chaboyea led all scorers with 24 for Red Lake, Gerald Kingbird Jr. added 16. Trent Holthusen hit for 12 and D. J. Holthusen finished with 10.

Cody Britton led the Tigers with 13 and Jared Hamilton added 11.

Red Lake ups their record to 2-1 on the season and will travel to Walker-Hackensack-Akley on January 28th, travel to Laporte on February 1st and travel to Pine River on February 5th.

Pine River drops to 1-3 on the season.

In earlier action, Pine River's JV came back after trailing most of the game to the JV Warriors to win their game, 43-42. In the last five minutes of regulation play, Red Lake had just 4 players on the court after one fouled out.

In girls basketball, Red Lake's Lady Warriors won their third straight game on the road at CLearbrook-Gonvick 81-68. The girls will play their first home game on Monday, February 1st against Laporte.
