Gordon Lyle Spears, age 67, of Ponemah, MN ("Zii moo" which means Jumps on with Anybody) of the Bullhead Clan, began his journey to the Spirit World on January 28, 2021 at the Red Lake Hospital.

Gordon was born on November 27, 1954 to Greeting and Maude (Wind) Spears in Red Lake, MN. Gordon lived his life in Poneman. He loved being with his family and friends. He liked to take long rides, walk around town, work on cars, go to the Casino, listen to country music, pow wow music and mi ni kwe. Gordon was always a nice person, always willing to help out and when told something funny, he had a funny unforgettable laugh.

Family welcoming him to the Spirit World is the love of his life, Alvina Dow; his daughter, Iris Black, parents: Greeting and Maude (Wind) Spears; sisters: Gloria, Eliza, twin sisters; brothers: Alvin, Alex and Norman as well as other relatives and friends.

He leaves behind his sons, Marlyn and Kordell Black; his brother, Greeting Spears Jr. (Gus) and his sister, Doris Strong; step-daughter, Debbie Dow; five grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and relatives.

The Wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys & Girls Club in Ponemah and continue until the service at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. Steve Jackson will be the Spiritual Leader. Casketbearers will be: Arlan Johnson, Charlie Johnson, Justin Nelson, Preston Spears, Derrick Spears, Kevin Rosebear Jr., Dewayne French and Vincent Johnson. Honorary casketbearers will be: Kenny Iceman, Curtis Perkins, Sheldon Perkins, Dino Perkins, Bill Spears, Bruce Dow and Joe Iceman. Burial will be at the Dow Family Burial Grounds.
