Eric James Wakanabo began his journey from St. Mary's Essentia Health Hospital in Duluth, MN on January 18, 2021 at the age of 36.

Eric was born on July 4, 1984 in Bemidji, Minnesota to Ralph and Liz Wakanabo. He graduated from Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School in 2002. Eric enjoyed spending time with his family, loved being outdoors, and hanging out with his friends. He was employed at Evergreen, Northern Lights, Kev & Gram's Stand and (KFC-family inside joke). He will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and most of all a friend.

Eric is survived by his son Kason Wakanabo, mother Liz (Kevin) Schaaf of Mora, Siblings: Ralph Wakanabo Jr. Beth Wakanabo, Susie Michaud, Bernadette (John) Charnoski all of Ball Club, MN. Also numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

he family that welcomes Eric into the spirit world is his father Ralph Wakanabo Sr., Sister JoAnn Urrutia, Grandmothers Mary Mitchell and Josephine Wakanabo and Grandfathers Robert (Johnny) Mitchell and Hubert Wakanabo, Aunts Barb "Bubba" Gotchie, Barb Bellanger, and Patty Nubbe, Uncle Bob Gotchie, Niece Rebecca Tibbetts and Cousins Larrissa Wakanabo, Cody Mitchell, Curt Bellanger, and Samuel "Porker" Bellanger.

A wake is scheduled for 6pm on Thursday, January 21, 2021 in Ball Club, MN at the Lone Eagle Center. This will be followed by the funeral on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 10am. A reception at the center will follow his laying to rest in the Town Site Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Eric's life. In light of these times of Covid-19, the family is asking to please wear a mask and follow safe social distancing.
