Dean "Dino" Franlkin May

Dean Franklin May, 58, of Red Lake, MN passed away on January 13, 2021 at Red Lake Indian Health Services. He was the son of Donald May, Sr., and Rosella Hart.

Dino enjoyed spending time with his significant other, being out rummaging, enjoying cold ones, listening to music, visiting, and watching old TV shows. He took pride in being the owner of his home that his father built from the bottom up. He always made sure the yard was top notch. He loved paying visits to all his friends and family. He had a fun humorous personality that everyone will miss.

He took pride in being a dad. Also in being an uncle. He loved visiting all his nieces and nephews and bringing the younger ones gifts and candy.

He was very generous and helpful, he loved tinkering with vehicles and fixing them up. Mostly he just loved the company of those who stopped by whether it was the maintenance man, cousins, or friends.

Dean spent the last years of his life enjoying retirement. Before that he worked various jobs from being Red Lake High School bus driver, various security jobs, Transportation Driver for Indian Health Services and Red Lake Transit. He was a hardworking man and sometimes worked up to three jobs at a time.

Those that have passed before him are his son, Dean May, Jr .; grandparents, Freida Hart and Raymond Munnell and Elizabeth May; parents, Donald James May, Sr., and Rosella Marie Hart; brothers, Robin Fredrick May and Donald May, Jr .; uncles, Phillip Jourdain and Melvin Smith; aunts, Geraldine Smith, Edna Kingbird and Mary Sayers; and nephew Tony May, Jr.

Those Dean leaves behind to cherish his memory daughter, Melanie May Chaboyea and son in law, Lyle Chaboyea; brothers, Tony May, Sr., Chris May, and Rick May; sisters, Denise May, Bonnie May, Jessica Roberts, Amanda May, and Emmy May; significant other Mary May Barrett and numerous nieces and nephews.

An overnight wake will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21st and continue until his memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd all being held at the Red Lake Center. William May will be leading the service. Pallbearers will be Robin May, Rowdy May, Roger Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Alexander Gonzalez, John Jourdain, Kurt Tarnow, and alternate Devin May. Honorary pallbearers are Tony May, Buck Jourdain, Llye Chaboyea, Amber May, Tara May, Georgianna Jourdain, Rita Wiesse, David Clark, Bill May, Chris May, Denise May, Bonnie May, Darrell May, Carla May, Mike Ness, Arlene Barrett, Joe Jourdain and Harlene Spears.
