Jalen Ajay Peoples, "Hunka Nupa" (Two Mothers) 23 of Fort Totten ND passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot ND.

The Wake for Jalen will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center on Sunday, January 17, 2021 beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The procession will leave at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.

Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 18th at 10:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Recreation Center and Jalen will be laid to rest at St. Jerome's Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.

Pallbearers for Jalen will be Anthony Littlewind, Ivan Lovejoy Jr., Addison Greyhorn-Peoples, Cameron Howard, Jessica Hale, Marissa Feather, MiKayla Greywater and Whisper Gourd. Honorary Bearers are Mystica Gourd, Clayton DuBois Jr. and family, Amanda Robertson, Nakia Hill, Carrie Smith and family, Shirlene Feather and family, Delisha Tomahawk, Katie Redroad, Brooke Joshua, Alyssah Norquay, Shaelynn Little, Debbie Little and family, the Four Winds High School Class of 2017.

Jalen Ajay Peoples was born in Devils Lake ND on September 7, 1997, the son of Lisa (Kills Plenty) and Melvin Peoples. He grew up and was educated in Fort Totten where he attended school and graduated from Four Winds High School in 2017. Throughout his high school years, he worked for the summer youth program. He then bought his first car from the money he earned working, which he was so proud to be able to do.

After graduating, Jalen began working at the Spirit Lake Casino for quite some time. He loved making money to buy his niece and nephew new things with each check he got. His favorite thing to say was "I just work to spoil my niece and nephew."

Growing up he loved spending time with his friends and enjoyed making new ones. He had such a spark and vibe to him that everyone loved, so making friends wasn't hard for him. He also loved playing BINGO with his Mom and Grandma and liked to drive and adventure around with his Aunt Lea.

Jalen's loving family include his parents Lisa and Melvin Peoples Jr.; sisters Melvine Peoples and Willanette (Clayton) DuBois; brothers Anthony Littlewind, Phillip KillsPlenty, Silas Longie, Juneau Longie, Irvin Tomahawk, and Akiro Tomahawk; aunts Lea (Freeman) Whiteshield, Ervinetta Blueshield, Franny Greyhorn, Lynette Lovejoy, Heather Snow, Rani Howard and Debbie Little; uncles Irvin KillsPlenty Jr, Ivan Lovejoy Sr., Wesley BigTrack Sr., Ralph Peoples, Cameron Howard and Faron Howard; nieces and nephews Kyramae Goodshot, Avril TwoHearts, Kyle Vivier Jr., Irvin Blueshield and Bernice Blueshield; adopted sister Shanowa Whiteman; grandmother Catherine Howard.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Mary Jane Little, Phillip Little BigTrack, Virginia and Peter Peoples, grandparents Bernice and Irvin KillsPlenty Sr, Melvin Peoples Sr., Victor Peoples, Eugene Peoples, Luke, Corbett, Donald, Frederick, Rudy, Allen, Herbert, and Emerson BigTrack Sr., aunts Lynette BigTrack and Bendanetta Lovejoy, uncle John Leftbear, niece Kylette Goodshot, nephew Kyzer Goodshot and cousins Quentin Lovejoy and Holly Lenoir.
