Joseph Iceman

August 19, 1994 - January 10, 2021

Joseph Robert Iceman whose Ojibwe name is "Ozaawa Makoons" which means Brown Bear Cub, 26, of Bemidji and of the Bullhead clan died Sunday, January 10, 2021 at his home.

Traditional Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Ponemah Boys and Girls Club with spiritual leader Arnold Kingbird Niizhoo Bines. A wake will begin on Monday, Jan. 18th and will continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Iceman Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Joe was born August 16, 1994 in Roseau County, Roseau, MN, the son of DeWayne Iceman and Linda Johns. He was raised and educated in Bemidji and graduated from Voyagers High School in 2013. He liked to sing at Pow wows, dance, travel, and draw. He loved football, basketball and enjoyed the outdoors throughout his life. He sang with many drum groups and made many friends in his life. One thing that Joe was known for was his infectious smile and his enormous laugh and ability to bring others joy.

He is survived by his children Tyler, Jerricka, Karson and girlfriend Christina Pierre, parents DeWayne Iceman and Linda Johns,

Grandpa and Grandma Phyllis Iceman and Ed Dow, Siblings LaResha, Amanda, Alyssa, Cyras, and Celaina, Uncles Kelly, Sheldon, and El Roy Iceman, Tony Johns Aunties Pam, Shari, Kristy Iceman, Georgia White and Jocelyn Dow, Tilly DeLacruz,

lots of cousins, uncles and aunties.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Alma (Spears) and Robert Iceman, Irene and Grover Dow, Josephine (Monserette) Lucio and Frances Johns.

Casketbearers will be Jordan Dow, Travis Dow, Tyrone Dow, Kevin Buckagana, Doug Buckagana, Donte Spears with alternates Joe Tate, Cyras Whitefeather and Darren Cook, Jr.

Honorary Casketbearers are Linda Johns, Kristy Iceman, Kiylea Iceman, Lee Blue, Alex Dow, Brianna Strong, Renea Jourdain, and Tharen Iceman.
