Robert James "Bob" Gotchie Sr. "Aazhoo Benais" (Jet) passed away peacefully in St. Mary's hospital on December 26, 2020 in Duluth, Minnesota at the age of 54.

He will be remembered as a loving father, son, uncle, cousin, brother and most of all friend.

Bob is survived by his girlfriend Iris Parker as well as his children Jeremy Gotchie, Robert "BJ"(Anna) Gotchie Jr., Josh Johnson, Karla Gotchie, Derek(Deanah) Gotchie, and Lauren(Eric) Gotchie. Grandkids: Drake, Cyrus, Sawyer, Trevor, Remi, Evan, Angelina, Kaine, Charles, Cassandra, Xzavier, Camden, Kylo, Mal'akai, and Bryson. Siblings: Connie Taylor of Cass Lake, Liz(Kevin) Schaaf of Mora, Bernie(John) Charnoski of Ball Club, Becky Mitchell of Ball Club, Wanda Youngrunningcrane of Ball Club, Jamie(Lisa) Mitchell of Cass Lake, Larry Hardy of Walker, Roger(Loretta) Gotchie of Ball Club, Loretta Monroe of Cass Lake, Troy House of Ball Club, Steve(Becky) Gotchie of Ponford and Nicole Wade of Ball Club as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Mitchell and father Robert (Johnny) Mitchell, sisters Barb Gotchie and Patty Nubbe, nephew Cody Mitchell, brother-in-laws Ralph Wakanabo and Chuck Taylor.

Bob was born on June 24, 1966 in Cass Lake, Minnesota to Johnny and Mary Mitchell. He attended Deer River High School where he is still known for his wrestling abilities. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel. One of his most proud trips was to Alaska and driving through the most dangerous mountain passages. He could be found anywhere outside but especially in a rice bed or bough patch. He will be most missed for his amazing sense of humor and contagious laugh. He was able to bring joy to any situation whether it was appropriate or not.

A wake is scheduled for 6pm on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Ball Club, MN at the Lone Eagle Center.

This will be followed by the funeral on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 11am.

A reception at the center will precede his laying to rest next to his father Johnny Mitchell, in the Boy River Cemetery.

Steve Jackson will officiate the ceremony.

All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bob's life. In light of these times of Covid-19, the family is asking to please wear a mask and follow safe social distancing.
