Chickasaw Foundation Virtual Art Auction offers unique Christmas gifts and First American art

ADA, Okla. – One-of-a-kind Christmas gifts are available through the Chickasaw Foundation Virtual Art Auction, and bidding on dozens of items ends at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18.

Works by artists from across the United States are available for bidding by visiting ChickasawFoundation.org.

Many of the items donated to assist the Chickasaw Foundation’s scholarships are by internationally acclaimed artists such as: bladesmith Daniel Worcester; master weavers Tyra Shackleford and Margaret Roach Wheeler; beading by Buddy Parchcorn; Joanna Underwood-Blackburn pottery; a multi-media sculpture by Dustin Mater; and painting by famed Chickasaw artist Mike Larsen.

Each piece of art tells a unique story and offers a glimpse into the history and creativity of the Chickasaw people. Items range from jewelry to paintings, handbags and other First American art. Each piece showcases the talents of the artists and their preferred medium.

Two charcoal pieces by Chickasaw Kaitlyn Tingle are also available, including “Ancient Vision” which earned the 20-year-old the 2018 Red Earth Festival’s “Emerging Artist” award. It was the first year Tingle entered her work for competition.

A board bow made by Chickasaw craftsman Darrell Walker is also up for auction. The bow is 70 inches long and made of red oak.

One item up for auction is a facial mask of black emblazoned with a striking red feather donated by Chickasaw artist Ashley Wallace. The piece shows the Chickasaw warrior spirit as our region – and the country – battles the COVID-19 pandemic.

While enjoying the online auction, patrons may also make a tax-deductible contribution to the foundation.

Since its inception in 1971, the Chickasaw Foundation has assisted Oklahoma communities by funding disaster relief, food pantries, emergency services, charitable organizations, scholarships, a fellowship and cultural opportunities
