BRING THE SING ON THE SOLSTICE WITH MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO DEC. 21

Minnesotans invited to share the light with #mprsolstice videos and join in statewide singalong

ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec. 10, 2020 – Minnesota Public Radio welcomes Minnesotans to look toward the light at the end of 2020 with Bring the Sing on the Solstice. Monday, Dec. 21, marks the winter solstice, and MPR invites all Minnesotans to join in through social media and song in this special statewide event.

Minnesotans are invited to record a 10-second video of their favorite light-filled solstice activity and share it with the hashtag #mprsolstice by Dec. 14. The light in your life could come from holiday decorations, gathering around the fire, the radiance of a Coleman lantern, or the glow of a Zoom gathering with loved ones.

A compilation of these submissions will be shared at classicalmpr.org/sing and on MPR social media Dec. 21, demonstrating all the ways Minnesotans experience and celebrate light.

On the solstice at 5 p.m. CST, Minnesotans are invited to tune in to Classical MPR, MPR News or The Current for a statewide singalong of "This Little Light of Mine" (lyrics are available here). From your car, your front lawn or your living room, share your voice and spread some light with your neighbors as we look toward brighter days.

Following Bring the Sing, Classical MPR and The Current will each broadcast two hours of solstice-themed programming.
