Mary Jane Cloud “Ne-sho-soo Bin-na-seek” (Seven Thunder Birds), 32, of Red Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020.

Mary Jane was born on June 2, 1988, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Lawrence Cloud and Cheryl Wind. She grew up in Red Lake and attended school there. MJ loved to work and be around people. She worked as a personal care assistant and also in various capacities for Seven Clans Casino. She was a mother first and foremost and leaves behind two sons and two daughters. Her son remembers her as being a strong and caring mother who loved to be with her kids, who never gave up on anything, and was always passionate and looked out for others. MJ enjoyed life, had a great personality and sense of humor, and touched people with her friendliness. She will live on forever in the hearts of her children.

Mary Jane will be greatly missed by her sons Timothy (Timmy) Cloud and Tristine Cloud; daughters Tomi Cloud and Tammie Lue Cloud; mother Cheryl Wind, father Lawrence Cloud, step-mother Nancy Cloud; sisters Laura Gibbs and Shelly Jack; step-sisters Tracey Homme, Tabitha Olson, and Nancy Ann Timm; brothers Anthony (Tony) Gibbs, Lawrence (Roads) Gibbs, Gerald (Jerry) Wind, Jeremy Cloud-Wind, and Jason Wind; and special friends, Mike Defoe, Jr. and Derrick Smith.

Welcoming Mary Jane home will be her grandparents Andrew and Mary Jane Cloud and Rueben and Margaret Wind; son Michael Cloud-Defoe III; daughter Mary Jane Cloud-Defoe; and uncles Ben Cloud and Terry Cloud.

A wake for Mary Jane will begin on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at 1:00pm at the Red Lake Center and will continue until the service on Friday, December 11, at 10:00am. Traditional services will be led by Waa-maajaa’iwed Steve Jackson. Casketbearers will be Raymond Drouillard, Leif Lussier, Benjamin Cloud Jr., Rick Porter, David Wind, Frank Wind, Gerald Voss, Timothy Cloud and alternate, James Drouillard. Honorary Casketbearers will be Katie “KT” Jones, Kody Johnson, Sharae Needham, Salina Jones, Jessica Graves, Michele Buffalo, Felicia Cloud, and Angela Beaulieu. Burial will follow in Red Lake Episcopal Cemetery.
