Virgil Stuart Skinaway, Jr., Animikii Inini – "Lightning Man" age 34, of Red Lake, MN, began his spiritual journey on November 23, 2020.

Virgil was born on December 16, 1985, in Bemidji, MN, to Victoria Brun and Virgil Skinaway, Sr.. He attended Red Lake High School where he graduated in 2004. He went on to attend Northwest Technical College in Bemidji. Virgil worked at various jobs throughout the years. He was a very determined, hard worker at anything he did. Virgil had a big heart and lent a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Virgil played a big role in all the lives of the children in his family. When Virgil wasn't out and about he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He often spent time hanging out with his special friends, Terin and Rakiah Cobenais. His proudest moments were the ones he spent raising his special son, Josiah Brun.

Virgil will be greatly missed by his father, Virgil (Kelly) Skinaway Sr., grandfather, Francis Brun Sr., brothers: Travis Brun, Vincent Skinaway and Tristan Skinaway; sisters: Tamara Rose Skinaway, Jennifer Kangas and Brandi Roy; uncles: Francis Brun, Jeffrey Brun, David Skinaway, Ronald Skinaway and Quentin Johns; aunts: Diana (Royce) Graves, Kathy (Bobby) Brun; his special son, Josiah Brun as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Brun; grandmothers: Barbara Brun and Mary Rose Skinaway; grandfather, David Skinaway, Sr .; aunt: Valerie Johns; uncles: Lowell Skinaway and Derrick Brun.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue until the time of service at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. Casketbearers will be: Vincent Skinaway, Robert Anderson, Jr., Franklin Skinaway, Royce Graves III, Devin Nedeau, Chris Roy, Dan Roy, Tristin Skinaway and Brian Holthusen, Jr.. Honorary casketbearers will be: Travis Brun, Rochell, Terin and Haley Cobenais, Carisa Skinaway, Erin and Mallori Brun, Lindsay, Zachary and Kali Johns, Amber Brun, Nikki Skinaway, Veronica Bratvold, Rochelle, Davida and Rebecca Graves and Quentin Johns.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake. Arrangements provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service of Walker (www.whisperingpinesnorth.com).
