Rose Delphine Skinaway

Rose Delphine Skinaway

May 5, 1930 - November 25, 2020

Rose was born in the Spring of 1930, on May 5th in Red Lake, Minnesota. Growing up, she lived with her parents, Ben and Mary Lawrence, in a one-room log house surrounded by gardens full of vegetables and flowers. She attended St. Mary's Mission School and Red Lake High School. In 1949, she married Earl Parkhurst, Jr. and they had four children: Sandra, Colleen, Greg, and Mary.

Rose and Earl raised their family in Minneapolis, where Rose worked for many years at Munsingwear until that company relocated and closed its Minneapolis factory. When she was nearly 50 years old she decided to obtain an Associate of Arts degree from Minneapolis Community College.

Rose's first husband, Earl, passed away in 1978. Rose later married Roger Skinaway and they lived in Minneapolis.

Rose was a strong and dedicated Christian woman. She enjoyed going to church and singing during services. She greatly enjoyed hearing from and seeing her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She liked going out to eat with her family; and she liked any kind of pie. She once joined her oldest daughter to eat an entire raisin pie in one sitting.

She is remembered with great love by her family and friends and leaves with us her favorite quote from the Bible. John 14:2: In my Father's house there are many mansions: If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

A wake will begin at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Red Lake Community Center and continue until the funeral service at 11 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake.
