William "Fatts" Walter Windom

March 20, 1933 ~ November 18, 2020 (age 87)

William "Fatts" Walter Windom, age 87, of Pennington, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 from the Cass Lake IHS Hospital in Cass Lake, MN.

William was born on March 20th, 1933 in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Daisy (Fineday) and Arthur Windom. He enjoyed hunting, being outdoors doing yard work and teaching his grandkids about nature and how to rice. William embraced his tradition and culture; he traveling the powwow trails, teaching his family a little about their history and the Ojibwe language and how to survive on the land, a lesson he learned at a young age. He enjoyed sharing stories about his days in the Army. William loved spending time with his family and grandkids, movies, cars and shoes.

Family that William is reunited with are his wife, Shirley; daughters, Imogene and Roberta Williams; parents, Daisy and Arthur; brothers, Joe and Martin; sister, Alice; grandsons, Lawrence Hart, Jr. and Robbie Rederth; nephew, Patrick Smith and several more relatives.

Those left behind are his sons, Levi (Robin) Williams, Sr. of Bemidji and Damascus "Troy" Williams of Pennington; daughters, Lisa Williams of Pennington and Barbara Ann (Gene) Jens of Sisseton, SD; special grandchildren that he helped to raise, Shannon (Roger), Sherona (Tony), Cynthia, Jeremiah and Jordan; special nieces, Barbara and Doreen Smith and Nancy Hart; many more grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

An overnight wake for William will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, November 21st, 2020 and continue until his 1:00 p.m. traditional service on Sunday, November 22 all being held at the Pennington Community Center in Pennington, MN. Pallbearers for William will be Jordan Williams, Ephrem Curry, Cody Williams, David Curry, Jr., Levi Williams, Jr. and Roger Johnson, Jr. Alternate pallbearers are Josh Holstein and William Holstein. His honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends. Interment will be in the Windom Family Burial Grounds at Pennington, MN following his Sunday services.
