Minnesota voters, election workers report calm at the polls on Election Day

November 4, 2020

Laura Gesme of Vasa got help from daughter Isla, 4, while voting Tuesday at the Vasa Town Hall in Welch, Minn.

An anxious Minnesota electorate awaited results in Tuesday's historic general election, but voters and election workers alike reported mostly calm conditions at polls around the state.

The tranquillity across Minnesota's precincts belied earlier worries of an election disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic and security breaches at polling places.

"It's really about the absence rather than the presence of things to report," Secretary of State Steve Simon said Tuesday afternoon.
