MPR NEWS & CATHOLIC CHARITIES PRESENT IN FOCUS EVENT: RACISM IN HOUSING ACCESS

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 2, 2020 – MPR News and Catholic Charities of St. Paul and Minneapolis will partner to present the next event in the In Focus series: an in-depth discussion on housing access and race. In Focus: Racism in Housing Access will take place via a free webinar on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Noon Central Time.

Inadequate access to housing is a growing problem in Minnesota, especially during a pandemic and economic downturn. Even while more Minnesotans are finding themselves without homes, it’s clear this crisis is hitting some communities harder than others: Black and Indigenous adults are overrepresented in the state’s unsheltered population.

In Focus: Racism in Housing Access will feature a panel of experts hosted by MPR News to discuss how racism affects a person’s ability to find a house or apartment, and then keep it. They will also speak to what efforts are being made to address these persistent racial disparities in homelessness and help more people access housing.

This discussion will include an audience Q&A and will be broadcast on MPR News at a later date. The event will also be available for viewing via Facebook Live on MPR News’ Facebook page. Updates on speakers and participants can also be found on this page.
