Blackfeet Tribe reports 12 deaths from COVID CDC Assessment Team here to assist Blackfeet Country
October 22, 2020
Blackfeet Country welcomed Phillip Talboy of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) this week, arriving from the CDC in Atlanta, GA. “I am a COVID responder,” he said, “here at the invitation of the Tribal Council. My role for the next nine days is doing assessments of what is needed.”
Talboy explained that when the assessments are complete, the information will be sent back to the CDC to develop a plan of action. While he arrived as one of a team of three people, he said the assessment will include requests for personnel which he said the CDC will fill as soon as possible.
Besides assessing the situation, Talboy is also conducting trainings. For example, he said he’d spent nearly an entire day in training and discussions with the Tribal Council last week.
