Bemidji Women's MARCH IN PLACE & Progressive Paddle 2020

Description: This year marks the centennial anniversary of Caucasian women’s suffrage - women of color weren’t granted those rights until decades later. Since 2017, people across the globe have been participating in the Women’s March movement. Traditionally the march is held in February but this event is occurring as a promotion for election day: Tuesday, November 3rd. To maintain social distancing, participants will be stationary and “march in place” while lining the sidewalk along the lake side of Paul Bunyan Drive from Library Park (5th st) to Dairy Queen (Cross St SW). Paddlers with be in Lake Bemidji with canoes and kayaks, celebrating the woman’s right to vote! Kayaks and canoes may be available to rent - Contact Cate at kayakc2@me.com if interested in paddling.Bemidji’s League of Women Voter’s will have voter registration forms and information available. Social distancing will be enforced and masks are required. Students from Bemidji State University’s Black Student Union and Phoenix will be participating.
