Peterson Opposes Partisan House COVID-19 Relief Package

(Washington, D.C.) Congressman Collin C. Peterson released the following statement after voting “no” on the Heroes Act 2.0 package:

"I voted no on the Heroes 2.0 package because we know the bill was going nowhere and was a waste of time. Small businesses, restaurants, resorts, farmers and families need relief from the COVID-19 hardships they face. I will continue to fight to ensure that the agriculture provisions I secured in the updated Heroes Act can be included in a bipartisan deal. Secretary Mnuchin and Speaker Pelosi have been making progress in their current negotiations on unemployment insurance, funding for local governments, and support for the Paycheck Protection Program. I will only support a package that is realistic and will help those who need it most.

I’ve said repeatedly that we can’t keep spending all this money and we need to focus on the issues that are most pressing to our constituents. We also must have buy-in from both Democrats and Republicans who want to get relief to those who need it most."
