2020 Southeastern Art Show & Market to be virtual

This year’s Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) and SEASAM Youth will take place virtually as part of an all virtual Chickasaw Nation Annual Meeting and Festival. The annual art event is an opportunity for tribal artists and others to celebrate Southeastern and Woodland arts.

SEASAM and SEASAM Youth, an art competition and an online market, will be available to the public beginning Oct. 2 and continuing through Dec. 31. Art lovers can maintain responsible distancing while browsing and purchasing Chickasaw and Southeastern artists’ works online.

As a judged art competition, awards will be available for winners among the various categories for both adults and youth. Winners will be announced Oct. 1. In 2005, the Southeastern Art Show and Market (SEASAM) began what is now a time-honored tradition with the first competition, show and market. SEASAM continues to be committed to providing professional development and networking opportunities for emerging and professional Southeastern and Woodland artists, all while fostering cultural identity through fine art of contemporary and traditional styles.

Submission information is available at SEASAM.net. The show is open to adult and youth (ages 14-17) artists of federally-recognized Southeastern and Woodland tribes. For more information, contact Chickasaw Nation Arts and Humanities at (580) 272-5520, or email ArtistInfo@Chickasaw.net.
