Allen James Smith, age 38, of Red Lake, Minnesota passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at his home. Allen was born in Bemidji, MN, on January 14, 1982, to Beverly Smith and Allen Baptiste Maxwell.

Allen grew up and attended school in Red Lake. He is remembered as loving to hang out with his family and friends. They loved his sense of humor and his kind heart, never wanting to hurt anyone. When he was a little boy, the family gave him the name "Baby Al", not that he liked the name, but he did like to drink Similac and made that his beverage of choice for quite a few years. When he got older, his favorite became Taaka Vodka, and his friends called him "Capone," after his father. He liked to work on cars and stereo systems, watch Nascar races, smoke sessions with friends, and play cribbage and dominoes.

Allen will be greatly missed by his sisters Theresa (James Larson) Smith and Sharon (Darrell Waybenais) Smith; brother Derrick Smith Sr.; aunts Clarice Cloud, Vicky Smith, Marilyn Smith, Tracey Smith, Alberta Smith, Patricia Smith, and Diane Smith; uncle Herbert Smith Jr; many nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents; aunts Thelma Smith, Marjorie Smith, and Kathleen Smith; and uncles Ejay Smith, Gary Smith, and Clinton Smith.

A wake will begin at 2:00pm on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Littlerock Center in Littlerock and will continue until the service at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 19, 2020. Casketbearers will be Ron Day, Kyle Cloud, Myron Benais, Dan White, Frank Gurno and Curt Tarnow. Honorary Casketbearers will be Corey Bedeau, Arlie Wipf, Jason Jones, Davis Smith, Jordan Smith, Daniel Smith, Kyle Hardy, and William Bedeau Jr. Interment will follow at the Smith Family Burial Grounds in Littlerock, Minnesota.

Arrangements are being provided by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service, Walker, MN.
