Grand Forks school district receives grant from Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians

September 14, 2020

Grand Forks Public Schools has received a $10,000 grant from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians to support Native American students in the Grand Forks school district.

The funds will be used to help students financially with fees, including after-school care, band instruments, electronic devices, college applications, testing, sports and lunch tickets. The money also will be used to cover the cost of hosting cultural events for the Grand Forks community.

The grant will allow the school district “to assist Native American students with a variety of services as they pursue their education during this uncertain time with COVID-19,” Chad Ward, Native American liaison for Grand Forks Public Schools, said in a news release.
