Wilbur Vern Humphrey Sr., 79, of Minneapolis, MN, died Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, MN.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. A wake will begin at 4:00 pm, Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the Veteran's Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN, and will continue until the time of the service at the Veteran's Memorial Building. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Bena, MN, under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Wilbur was born on July 27, 1941, in Cass Lake, MN, the son of George and Mamie (Tuttle) Humphrey. He was raised in Bena, and graduated from the Boy River High School. He was a star basketball and football player in High School. He served in the US Army during Vietnam, and was honorably discharged. He worked in the roofing and construction industry, and eventually became an inspector, flying all over the country to evaluate roofing projects. He loved playing guitar in his country western band "Country Willie." He enjoyed spending time out doors in the woods, hunting, and wild ricing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and supporting the Minnesota Vikings.

He is survived by his: Children, Wilbur Humphrey Jr.

He is preceded in death by his: parents, brothers George Humphrey, Lawrence Humphrey, Raymond Humphrey, sister Dolly Evans, and infant sister Florence Humphrey.
