National Museum of the American People Joins in Mourning the Loss of Civil Rights Icon John Lewis

Another Civil Rights icon, Dorothy Height, the long-time leader of the National Council of Negro Women, also backed the National Museum of the American People.

The NMAP will tell the story about the making of the American People from first peoples here through today as it encompasses all Americans who came from everywhere on Earth.

Supporters of the NMAP from across the nation’s ethnic, nationality and minority spectrum want to have their stories told in a major Washington museum and see the museum as a vehicle to bring all Americans together. Their goal now is to establish the museum in 2021 with broad bipartisan support.
