Pemberton reelected in Redby, squeaks by Donnell 318-296 in Run Off Election

Donnell won locally 229-156, but lost to Pemberton's 162 Absentee Votes

RED LAKE INDIAN RESERVATION - Members of the Redby District went to the polls on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, for the purpose of electing one District Representatives for a four-year term for the Redby District.

Incumbent Allen Pemberton squeaked by challenger Herman Donnell 318-296 unofficially. Donnell had won locally 229-156 after the polls closed on Wednesday, but lost to Pemberton's 162 absentee votes, according to the tally sheet by the General Election Board.

Pemberton should be sworn-in at the next Regular Tribal Council meeting once the election is certified and there are no challenges.

Pursuant to Chapter 1807.06 of the Election Code, only a candidate, and no other person, may challenge the correctness of the certified results of an election in which that candidate ran for elected office and then only for the office that he or she sought. Challenges must be filed in writing under oath with the General Election Board within five calendar days following the certification of the election. The challenge must provide the necessary information required by the Election Code and be accompanied by a cash bond of five hundred dollars ($500.00).
