Geneva "Skeeter" (Petite) McMillen, "Niizhogaabowiikwe", 67, of Cloquet, MN, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 3rd, 2020 at home surrounded by family.

Geneva "Skeeter" McMillen was born May 12, 1953 to Michael Petite, Sr. and Gladys Roy Northrup Petite in Duluth, MN. She grew up in Sawyer, Duluth, Twin Cities and finally settling in Cloquet. She is an enrolled member of the Fond du Lac Band of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. She was always devoted to her family throughout her life. Skeeter most enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren sing, dance, and play. She loved watching them grow and loved being a huge part of their daily lives. She was a strong woman in her family, always keeping things together, a true mindimooyeh... She also loved her brothers and sisters; nieces and nephews deeply; always keeping in contact. They would go to the casino and laugh together for hours. They would always call on each other and help each other when in need. It was in that way she taught the younger generation how to be family. We are forever grateful for her kindness, generosity, and love... for they will continue to make in impact in all of our lives forever...

She is survived by her husband John Henry McMillen; and children, Donald Petite, Fawn (Bobby King) McMillen, Bear McMillen, John "Munch" & Victoria McMillen, and Timothy Morgan; grandchildren, DJ, Tori, Josh, Kai, Noah, Cheyenne, Delaney, Myron, Kayla, Aliah, Donovin, Maraya, Liam, Cilas, Maya, John, Annabelle, as well two great-grandchildren; and siblings Diana Reynolds, Candy Fineday, Sueann Petite, Suezette Petite, Antoinette and Russ Rule, Leonard Petite, David and Toni Petite, and Phillip Petite and countless nieces and nephews.

Skeeter was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael Petite, Jr. and Dana Roy Petite; sisters, Linda Martin, Leatrice Lind, Karen DuFault, and Alice Northrup, Rochelle Martineau; and nephew, Jaris Paro; and niece, Dawn LaPrairie.

Geneva served her community through long employment with the Band. She worked at almost every casino the Band has developed in their history. For many years, she served families and children through the band's community drop-in centers and community center. She was also a loving foster care mother for years. She will be remembered by all in the community..
