Dana "Wood" Chathiad Naiel Martin, Chi-gimiwan "Big Storm", Makwa "Bear Clan", age 36, of Red Lake, MN passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Wood was born on October 2, 1983, in Bemidji, MN to Kevin Martin Sr. and Berta Aaisha Syed. He was raised in Ponemah and attended high school in Kelliher, MN. He was married to Brandi Barrett on November 29, 2015 and they were blessed with a daughter, DeLayah. Wood worked as a shuttle driver for the casino for many years and later enjoyed staying home to care for his daughter.

Wood loved to travel. He and Brandi enjoyed getting in the car to explore new places and traveled to Ohio to visit his mother and step-father. He was an animal lover and held a special place in his heart for his cats: Poppy, Sandy and Olive and his dog, Spike. Wood also loved to grill when he got the chance and was happiest spending time with his family at home.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Brandi; his daughter, DeLayah; step-children: Isaac and Braylon Raincloud; parents: Kevin (Sandra) Martin Jr., and Berta Aaisha (Sami) Syed; his grandmother, Carol Martin; siblings: Kevin Martin Sr., Kristina (Bradley) Martin, Mariyam Syed and Shalise (Caleb) Martin; special brother, Darry Rosebear; step-siblings: Lorelle Brun, Talon Rosebear, Jess Rosebear, Frank Rosebear, Shalise Martin and Chaise Rosebear; aunts: Andrea Rosebear, Mona Nelson, Phyllis Iceman and Karen Martin; uncles: John Kingbird Jr., Roland Iceman, Kenneth Iceman, Darrel Iceman, Ervin Iceman and Gary Martin; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Wood was preceded in death by his grandparents: Julia and John Kingbird, Elmer Martin and Alma and Robert Iceman; his sister, Chanelle Rosebear as well as other relatives.

The wake will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the Ponemah Community Center in Ponemah and continue until the service at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 4, 2020. Casketbearers will be: Lonny Kingbird Jr., Fabian Rosebear, Brian Johnson, Delmer Martin, Alvie Stillday Sr., Wayne Hand, Del Schoenborn Sr., Evan Redeagle, Chaise Rosebear and James Garrigan. Honorary casketbearers will be: Kristina Martin, Jerilyn Rosebear, Lonny Kingbird Sr., Bobbi Jo Kingbird, Travis Martin, Shena Martin, Darry Rosebear, Kevin Martin Jr., Shalise Martin, Lorelle Brun, Angel Rosebear, Georgina King and Mandy Martin. Interment will be at the Martin Family plot in Ponemah.
