Hoopa Valley Tribal Council questions election results

The Hoopa Valley Tribal Council is alleging potential election manipulation following a recount of results from the tribe’s June 16 vote.

The June 23 recount showed candidate Arnold “Deacon” Ferris won the Norton Field District by 80 votes, according to a Thursday statement authored by Chairman Byron Nelson Jr.

Unofficial election results initially showed former tribe chairman Ryan Jackson the winner by a three-vote margin.
