PINKY SWEAR FOUNDATION AND HY-VEE TO HOST VIRTUAL KIDS TRIATHLON TO RAISE MONEY FOR KIDS WITH CANCER

2020 HY-VEE PINKY SWEAR KIDS TRIATHLON TO LAUNCH JUNE 1

EDINA, MINN – MAY 28, 2020 – Pinky Swear Foundation is collaborating with long-time partner Hy-Vee, Inc. to host its first-ever, virtual Hy-Vee Pinky Swear Kids Triathlon event on a national scale to help kids battling cancer and their families. Participants of all ages and abilities will be invited to participate online in a variety of engaging activities from their own homes and at their own pace.

Along with a $15 registration fee, registered participants will also be asked to fundraise a minimum of $50 each in a variety of creative ways to raise crucial support to help families with a child battling cancer. Pinky Swear Foundation has a goal to raise more than $300,000 from this eight-week long virtual kids fitness event.

Engaging content and weekly challenges, including an act of kindness or community service challenge, will be shared with registered participants via e-mail and on Pinky Swear Foundation and Hy-Vee’s social media channels. The virtual event will conclude with a digital recognition ceremony on August 1, 2020.

“With this event pivoting into a virtual experience this year, I am excited to see the creativity from kids and families,” says Erica Campbell, executive director for Pinky Swear Foundation. “Safety is our number one priority and we, along with our partners at Hy-Vee, have some incredible activities planned so kids of all ages and abilities can participate and feel good that they are doing something good to help others.”

The annual kids’ triathlon typically includes swimming, biking and running events, but this year a variety of activities will be showcased for participants to complete. Several fundraising milestone days are planned with incentives to encourage youth participants to fundraise dollars to make an even bigger impact for the families Pinky Swear Foundation supports.

“There’s no better way to engage youth throughout our communities than an event designed for kids to help kids,” said Tina Potthoff, senior vice president of communications for Hy-Vee. “We’re excited to partner with Pinky Swear Foundation for this first-ever, virtual event and give kids the flexibility to complete fun physical challenges at home this summer.”

Pinky Swear Foundation and Hy-Vee have teamed up on kids’ triathlon events since 2015. The events have raised more than $3.1 million to support the mission of helping kids with cancer. Additional Pinky Swear Foundation events include a Kids Chef event, fundraising galas, National Pinky Swear Day (December 11) and more.
