Russell James Bryan III, 39 years old, “Biidaanakwad” which means, “Clouds in the Sky”, of the Turtle Clan and Deer River, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, May 26th, 2020 from his home. He was born on October 3rd, 1980 in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Margaret and Russell Bryan, Jr.

Russ loved his family very much, especially his children. He loved playing Xbox with his sons, and he cherished his only daughter. Russ was especially close to his brother in laws Mark, Fred and Anthony. He loved all his friends. Russ was a big Minnesota Vikings fan. Russ liked to travel and enjoyed riding the back roads and going to different casinos around the state. He would always be the first to hug everyone or give a handshake.

He worked for Leech Lake Gaming for 23 years, starting out as a guest room attendant at the Palace Casino in Cass Lake before moving into transportation at the White Oak Casino in Deer River. From there he became a security guard and eventually moved up to the security supervisor. Russ enjoyed working at the White Oak Casino, where he made many friends through the people he met there. He really enjoyed working with his co-workers and helping people.

Family welcoming Russ to the spirit world are his grandparents, Percy and Eunice Fineday; grandfather, Russell Bryan, Sr .; great grandparents, Walter and Josephine Charwood; uncles, Charles Fineday, Darwin Bryan and Douglas Bryan, Sr. and special cousin, Keith Rogers.

He leaves behind the love of his life, Stephanie Jackson of Deer River; children, Christopher, De’Andre, Ayden, Jackson, Kai and Rebekka Bryan; his parents, Margaret and Russell Bryan, Jr. of Squaw Lake; Sister, Janel (Anthony) Jenkins, Jr. of Bemidji; grandmother, Helen Bryan-Johnson; aunts, Karen Fineday, Gloria Fineday, Janice Bryan and Linda Bryan; uncles, Larry and Mason Bryan; great aunt and uncle, Gloria and Rogelio Mellado; niece, Katie Grover, numerous cousins and many friends.

An overnight wake for Russ will begin at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28th and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Friday, May 29th all to be held at the Inger Community Center in Inger, MN. Waa-maajaa’iwed will be Steve Jackson. Pallbearers for Russ will be Douglas Bryan, Jr., Jarred Rabbitt, Matt Carley, Ryan Cash, Dylan Kingbird and Dan Goodrich. Alternate pallbearers are Anthony Jenkins, Jr. and Mike Rogers. His honorary pallbearers are Corey Miettinen, Joseph Ogema, Fred Ogema, Jimmie O’Shea, Jordan Miettinen, Mark Jackson, Johnny Brown and all his family and friends. Interment will be in the Inger Cemetery immediately following his Friday service.
