Emerson Dean Kingbird "Gichi Ningaabii'an" (Big West Wind of the Bear Clan), age 50, journeyed to the Spirit World on Friday, May 22, 2020, from the Red Lake Hospital following an automobile accident. He was born August 16, 1969, in Red Lake, Minnesota, to Clarence and Dora Kingbird. He grew up and attended school in Red Lake.

Emerson's hobbies were fishing and hunting and working as a mechanic. His favorite thing was playing with his nieces and nephews. They will remember him for his jokes and how he always had them laughing.

Those left behind to cherish Emerson's memory are his sisters Wanda Kingbird, Doreen (Shaun) French, and Glendoris (Rick Jones; brothers Adrian (Leslie) Kingbird, Lawrence (Nadine) Kingbid, and Calvin (Evelyn) Kingbird; uncle Myron; special friend Linda Johns; special nieces and nephews Dorie, Lori, Savanna, Manuela, Madisson and Clinton; great nieces Peyton, Aleilah, and Aariyannah; great nephews "Jayce" and Liam and Xavier Defoe; and his baby -- his precious cat "Boots".

Family that welcomes Emerson to the Spirit World are his parents Clarence and Dora Kingbird; brothers Clinton, Llewellyn, Benjamin and Cornelious Kingbird; sister Beverly Kingbird; grandparents Charles and Norma Kingbird; Henry Cloud and Hazel Kingbird and his niece Ivory Chanel Johnson; and numerous aunts and uncles.

A wake will begin at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, Minnesota, on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at 1:00pm and will continue until the service on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at 11:00am. Lawrence "Hank" Kingbird will serve as spiritual leader. Pallbearers are Richard Strong, Bobbie Jo Kingbird, Tyson Deserly, Roger Kingbird, Clinton Villanuela, and Wayne "Moose" Johnson. Alternate pallbearers are Dayton French, Sheldon French, Llewellyn Kingbird, Jr., Daylen French, Jiggs Kingbird, and Jeff Kingbird. Honorary pallbearers are Leslie Kingbird, Bonnie Kingbird, Melodie Kingbird, LaRayne Spears, Dorie, Lori and Madisson Rosebear, Shayla French, Shanna Auginash, and Charlene Kingbird.

Arrangements are being made by Whispering Pines Funeral & Cremation Service serving northern Minnesota.
