Joan Marion Littlecreek was a long time resident of Redby, Minnesota on Copper City Road. Joan died On May 2, 2020 in Bemidji, Minnesota of natural causes; she was 90 years old.

Born April 3, 1930 to Adolph Schielk and Marion Margaret Doyle, Joan was raised as an only child by her father Adolph, grandfather Adolph, and stepmother Celia Peterson. Joan was our mother but a large part of her identity was being a daughter. Joan often reflected on her upbringing by her parents and grandfather and the special relationship they shared. Joan was also fond of telling interesting stories of her childhood since she was raised during the Great Depression in Brooklyn, New York. This early childhood experience manifested later in life as Joan was willing to do with less so that others had enough.

Joan met her husband Hollis Littlecreek at a local rollerskating rink while Hollis was stationed nearby in the Army at the time. They married on July 10, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York.

Joan had a high school education and went on to obtain an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development. Joan enjoyed working many years at the Head Start program in Red Lake, Minnesota and was loved by many of her students.

Joan was a gifted artist and loved painting nature scenes in watercolor, oils, and acrylics. Joan also enjoyed beadwork and making porcelain dolls and doll clothing. Joan enjoyed sewing, and quilting and participated in the Bemidji Headwaters Quilters Guild.

Joan is survived by her five children and their spouses. Celia Elisabeth and Bert Tso, Thomas Adolph and Marilyn Benaise, Charles Leland and Judy Lussier (née Copeland), Russell Jerome and Laurie Formella, Michael Curtis and Stephanie Lynn Francis, Patti Littlecreek (née Burns), and Alberta Littlecreek (née Kodaseet).
