Francis M. Simon age 64 of Moorhead, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Francis was born on June 22, 1955 in Sisseton, South Dakota the son of Paul Abel and Amelia (Harris) Simon. He was raised by foster parents John & Sylvia Breen and Wilford & Arlene Wallace. He was a member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, growing up in the Naples, South Dakota area. Francis is the 5th Generation descendant of Chief Simon Anawangmani. He comes from a long line of Akicitas (Soldiers) both on his father’s side and mother’s side. He went to University of South Dakota earning a double Major in Accounting and Counseling. Francis worked as a Chemical Dependent Counselor.

Francis is survived by his brother: Filmore (Christina) Simon; sister: Barbara Simon – Mail as well as his many loving, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: Paul & Amelia Simon; brothers: Clayton J. Simon, Ronald D. Simon and Reverend Michael L. Simon; sisters: Gevenva R. Simon, Mary L. Simon, Joyce C. Simon, Ethel L. Simon- Max, and Jenny F. Simon-Cole; his paternal grandparents: Enoch & Louisa (Tiicahunzewin) Simon, maternal grandparents: Frank & Jennie Harris.

Graveside services will be Francis M. Simon will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at the Long Hollow Presbyterian Cemetery in Sisseton, South Dakota.

Honorary Pall Bearers are Stephen Simon, Randy Wallace and loving family and friends.

Pall Bearers will be John Ross, Keith Ross, Josh Laughter, Tim Laughter, Robbie Laughter, Aaron Lavergne, Alan Simon, and Lee Simon Jr.

Interment will be held at Long Hollow Presbyterian Cemetery, Sisseton, South Dakota

The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted, Minnesota helped the family with funeral arrangements.
