Marilyn Anne Martin, Ojibwe Name, "Wanabiikwe" of Bemidji MN, began her journey to the land across the sky on Friday April 17, 2020.

Marilyn, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend was born in White Earth, Minnesota. Marilyn moved to Minneapolis during her young years. Graduated from South High School in 1963. She went to college for a year and then moved to Red Lake after a marriage. After her divorce she moved back Minneapolis and worked for the State of Minnesota for over 20 years. She retired in Bemidji, MN where she actively volunteered with the Wisdom Steps, Stronger Together and other volunteer programs. She won "Volunteer of the Year Award". She spent time enjoying her loving animals (Cats: Yoda, Fiona, No Name, Bella, Dolly. Dogs: Thomas SharVhonus, Baby, and Lucy) attending church, signing Ojibwe Hymns, attending powwows, playing computer games, sewing, cooking, baking, listening to her favorite music group Chicago and looking at Anderson Cooper on CNN.

Marilyn is survived by her brother, Harlan Martin; sisters, Ginger Hathaway, Nina Adams, Cindi Adams, and other siblings; son, Rory Martin Sr.; grandson, Rory Martin, Jr. and granddaughters, Rozanna Roy, and Lori Martin; great grandchildren, Lamya Humphrey, Brandon White Jr, Kianna White, Bentley White and Brayden White.

Marilyn was preceded in death by the mother who raised her Juanita Hathaway and mother, Frances Martin-Adams; brother, Peter Hathaway and other brothers / sisters.
