Robert Johnson, Sr., age 68, of Ponemah, Minnesota and Marten Clan began his journey to the spirit world on Sunday, March 29th, 2020 from the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND. He was born to Delores (French) and James Johnson on July 22, 1951 in Red Lake, MN.

Robert was a hard-working man all his life. After attending Grand Forks Technical College, he went on to work as a logger and fisherman until he started doing masonry work. Robert then took a job with the 7 Clans Casino in Warroad and Thief River Falls. He worked there for several years before becoming a truck driver; driving until his retirement. When he wasn't working, he liked playing Bingo Blitz on his computer, playing Keno at the casino, watching Andy Griffin, and he enjoyed cleaning. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Welcoming Robert to the spirit world is his parents, Delores and James Johnson, his brothers, Kenneth and William Johnson and his granddaughter Amy Dow.

Robert leaves behind his wife, Nancy Johnson of Ponemah; sons, Robert (Tina) Johnson, Jr. of Ponemah and Travis Johnson of Plummer; daughters, Chele (Dean) Kalstabakken of Plummer and Melanie Johnson of Ponemah; sisters, Donna (Isaias) Thompson and Gloria (Bobby) Johnson both of Minneapolis, Marilyn Johnson of Red Lake and Brenda (Bill) Hardy of Ponemah; 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

An overnight wake for Robert will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2nd and continue until his 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Friday, April 3rd all to be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. Allen Hardy will be his Spiritual Advisor. Pallbearers for Robert will be Kevin Johnson, Dean Kalstabakken, Sheldon French, Dustin Perkins, Devin Johnson, Darren Pekins, Herbert Nelson III and Fred Johnson. Alternate pallbearers are Eugene Standingcloud, Keith Dow and Larry Dow III. His honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN following his Friday services.
