MSHSL, WIAA cancel basketball tournaments immediately

The Minnesota State High School League and Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association have both canceled their girls and boys state basketball tournaments effective immediately.

The girls tournaments were already underway but are stopping immediately.

All boys section games have also been canceled in both states. The boys basketball tournaments that had been scheduled for late next week are also canceled in both states.

The MSHSL also said section speech tournament events for the week of March 15 to 21 have also been postponed indefinitely.

The moves come after numerous collegiate and professional leagues canceled events.
