Red Lake Boys JV comes up short in their 59-48 setback against the Drakes JV

RED LAKE, MN – Blackduck hosted Red Lake on January 24th and took home the win, 72-63. It was a little different on Monday, February 24th when the Warriors were the host, as Red Lake started off with the lead and never game it up, sometimes leading by as much as 18 points in the second half. At the end of the first half, the Warriors were in control 44-28, led by Holthusen's 23 points.

Blackduck tried to chip away at the deficit in the second half, but Red Lake's defense and offense were in sync to give them the win, 81-63.

Delwyn Holthusen Jr. led all scorers with 42, and Dylan French and Aaron Chaboyea each had 9.

Dylen Moen led Blackduck with 27 and Ethan Merrill added 10.

Red Lake shot 15 of 22 from the free-throw line, while the Drakes were 9 of 12.

The win lifted Red Lake's record to 14-10 on the season, with one gaming remaining with Nevis on Friday, February 28th.

Cass Lake-Bena leads the Northland Conference at 11-3, while Nevis sits at 10-3 and Red Lake at 9-3. A Red Lake win will give Cass Lake the title, while a Nevis win will tie them with Cass Lake.

Blackduck's loss dropped their record to 17-8 and it was their last game until the Section 8A Tournaments. They are currently 4th in the Northland Conference.
